Ringed by Ku-Ring-Gai National Park, Brooklyn is an historic village closely associated with the early history and development of the lower Hawkesbury River. It is one hour's drive from Sydney CBD whilst Hawkesbury River station is a regular stop for trains on the northern rail line. Brooklyn has an interesting variety of shops and services including marinas, souvenir shops, dine-in or take-away restaurants, newsagents and general store, post office and local primary school. Go bush walking, enjoy the river, take a ferry ride, fish from the shore or hire a fishing tinny or luxurious houseboat from one of a number of marinas and specialist outlets. The ferry terminal next to the railway station has regular scheduled trips to a variety of areas such as Dangar Island, Wobby Beach and Patonga with the historic River Boat Postman taking mail and passengers to all stops upstream including Peat Island, Milsons Passage, Bar Point as far as Marlow Creek (near Spencer). | |||
